Marycellis is a single mother of two, Kayla, 12, and Angel, 17. She has lived in Humboldt Park for the last 32 years and appreciates the strong bond she has with her neighbors and the history of the community. She takes pride in the fact that her children are doing very well in school, and she has raised them with a strong set of values and goals.
Angel is currently attending school out of state on a basketball scholarship. He is an honor roll student and also enjoys running cross country. Kayla is also an honor roll student and plays basketball and baseball through the school. She is very proud of both of her kids.
Marycellis has recently struggled to find permanent work, but is currently with a temp agency and works as different placements become available. Her hope is to find a long term position and grow with a company. She wants to be able to help her children pay for college.
Marycellis attends the Reason to Give workshops every month. Her goal is to learn the skills necessary to find a good job and provide for her family. She is asking Reason to Give for basic items for the home and for her children.
