Why not support ____ by giving whatever you can

On June 3, 2014, Reason to Give graduated our fourth class from our five month Reason to Give Adult Education Program. These 12 dedicated students all received laptops with the latest software, thanks to United Airlines and Tech Soup, for their participation. Students began the program in September of 2013. They first underwent SMART Goals training and were asked to set their own personal short and long term life goals. These goals were then revisited throughout the program, and workshops were in place to help the progress.

For five months, students then participated in workshops that covered a variety of topics, all with the intention of helping them tackle obstacles and reach their goals. Expert facilitators from local non-profits, schools, and businesses volunteered their time to teach each workshop and offer follow-up support. Workshops covered resume writing and interview skills, professionalism and networking, financial management and planning, healthy living, retirement and life insurance planning, active parenting, domestic violence, options in higher education, entrepreneurship, working in the trades, financing an education, and computer training, All participants were given a resource binder with all their completed worksheets, printed presentations, and additional information to take with them. At the conclusion of the program, each student received a certificate of completion and laptop.

We are extremely proud of our graduating class. Each student worked hard to learn and better their lives. Among our many success stories, is Rosanna who was accepted and started nursing school, Carimar and Luis who started their own successful, incorporated business, and several others who have their resumes in hand and are now actively seeking employment.

This program would not be possible without the generosity of our donors and our many expert facilitators and volunteers. We can't wait until the next class.
